Questo quadro rappresenta la pala del Tiziano, raffigurante San Marco in trono circondato dai Santi della peste: SS. Cosma e Damiano, San Sebastiano, San Rocco. La tavola giunse qui dopo il 1674. E’ un’opera tra le più significative del maestro, ché segna il momento di distacco dalla scuola di Giorgione e l’avvio al suo modo autonomo. Eseguita nel 1510, anno della morte di Giorgione o nel 1511-12, per la cappella di S. Marco della Chiesa di S. Spirito in Isola, rivela motivi giorgioneschi e belliniani nell’impostazione del Santo in trono, nella tecnica a cotonatura dei capelli di San Sebastiano, nel tono assorto dei Santi di destra.
Si notino le quattro Madonne oranti del Sassoferrato (+1685), dall’espressione assai delicata (quella circondata da dodici stelle potrebbe essere, forse, di Luca Giordano).
Sopra l’altare: Reliquiario sbalzato in rame dorato, con al centro lo Spirito Santo che discende sul creato: ai lati due Sante martiri, lavoro fine della metà del Seicento.

This painting represents Titian’s altarpiece depicting St. Mark enthroned surrounded by the Plague Saints: Sts. Cosmas and Damian, St. Sebastian, St. Roch. The panel arrived here after 1674. It is one of the master’s most significant works, as it marks the moment of detachment from Giorgione’s school and the start of his autonomous manner. Executed in 1510, the year of Giorgione’s death, or in 1511-12, for the Chapel of St. Mark in the Church of S. Spirito in Isola, it reveals Giorgione and Bellini motifs in the setting of the enthroned saint, in the backcombing technique of St. Sebastian’s hair, and in the absorbed tone of the saints on the right.
Note the four praying Madonnas by Sassoferrato (+1685), with their very delicate expressions (the one surrounded by twelve stars could possibly be by Luca Giordano).
Above the altar: Reliquary embossed in gilded copper, with the Holy Spirit descending on creation in the centre: at the sides two martyred saints, work from the late mid 17th century.
